Background and Description of the Study
The Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA) is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), the city of St. Louis Park and private freight rail companies to conduct an analysis of relocating freight rail service from the Kenilworth Corridor to the M.N.S. line in St. Louis Park.
The analysis includes public outreach, a community impact assessment, preliminary engineering, cost estimating, and environmental documentation. The HCRRA and Mn/DOT have hired a consultant, Kimley Horn, to assist with this analysis. The analysis is currently underway and is expected to be completed by mid-2011.
